The Prosecco & Gin Festival have been traveling the country to host evenings of entertainment, bringing along an array of gins and plenty of Prosecco on ice. The Ice Co are thrilled to be an event sponsor, which means you’ll find our Super Cubes served in all your lovely G&T’s and our Premium Ice keeping the Prosecco icey cold.
We’ve been getting to know Layla, Director of the festival, to find out how it all started and what the festivals plans are for 2019….
Prosecco and Gin Festival….how did it all start?
The Prosecco and Gin Festival was actually born out of frustration at not having anywhere special to go with the girls for a day out. Don’t get me wrong, we love going to the pub and beer festivals are fun, but we could never find something that suited us all as well as providing an excuse to get dolled up/suited and booted and drink our favourite tipples.
Where would you like to take the Prosecco and Gin Festival tour next?
We are currently planning our events for 2019 and would love to visit a number of new cities across the UK. We haven’t taken the event to Scotland yet which is currently on the cards, plus a number of new locations will be announced soon so watch this space…
What is it about Prosecco and Gin…why is the nation so hooked?
Two drinks that are always welcome at any occasion. With the affordability of prosecco, it makes it a much more practical – and in my opinion – nicer alternative to champagne. With gin, there are just many amazing options to choose from, it seems impossible not to find something to love!
How should we be serving Prosecco?
Ideally, you want to chill prosecco for around 3 hours in the fridge. Or, even better, chill in icey water for around 30 mins will do the trick. By serving it too warm you really lose the refreshing buzz the Italians have taken centuries to perfect for us to enjoy.
What is your favourite style of gin and why?
With so many options out there, it can be hard to decide between all the sweet and savoury gins, but I actually prefer a good old-fashioned London Dry Gin.
Describe the ultimate gin serve….
50ml measure of your favourite gin, 150ml of premium tonic water and a large slice of grapefruit, served over lots of large ice cubes!
Future plans for the Prosecco and Gin Festival?
As mentioned earlier, we have exciting plans and location announcements coming up for 2019 so keep an eye on our social pages for updates.
