With the public tightening their budgets due to the cost-of-living crisis, The Ice Co is sharing DIY Starbucks recipes that could save people up to £20 per week on their morning coffees.
From a creamy Salted Caramel Frappe to an ice-cold fruity refresher, these copycat recipes aren’t a secret anymore, as we has uncovered the cheapest way possible to recreate the nations favourite Starbucks classics.
Salted Caramel Iced Frappe
Homemade: approx. £1 per drink
Store bought: £4.48 per drink
A classic Salted Caramel Iced Frappuccino is currently on the Starbucks menu for £4.48. If customers we’re to spend £30 on bulk ingredients at home, it would make around 70 individual drinks. Instore, £30 would cover six Frappes.
Ingredients:
- 2 handfuls of Party Ice (10p per portion)
- 1 measure of salted caramel syrup (14p per portion)
- 1 measure of coffee syrup (14p per portion)
- 1 shot of hot espresso (10p per portion)
- 1 cup of milk (11p per portion)
- 2 servings of whipped cream (20p per portion)
- 1 serving of caramel sauce (15p per portion)
Method:
- Add the Party Ice, salted caramel syrup, coffee syrup, hot espresso, and milk to a blender.
- Blend until mixture becomes thick, add more ice to make thicker if necessary.
- Pour into a reusable coffee cup, garnish with whipped cream and caramel sauce before serving!

Cool Lime Refresher
Homemade: approx. 75p per drink
Store bought: £4.48 per drink
On these hot summer days, there’s nothing more satisfying than an iced cold fruity beverage. The Cool Lime Refresher is without doubt one of the UK’s favourite Starbucks recipes. But, at £4.23 in-store, there’s certainly a cheaper way to quench Brits’ thirst. If customers were to spend £12 or less on the ingredients below, it would make 14 plus drinks, whilst on the high street customers would only be able to buy two.
Ingredients:
- 1 handful of Party Ice (10p per portion)
- 1 handful of fresh mint leaves (30p per portion)
- 2 limes (30p per portion)
- 1 teaspoon of sugar (5p)
- 300ml of cold water
Method:
- Cut the limes into four separate wedges and peel the skin from each lime to make two lime wheels.
- Squeeze the lime from the wedges, and infuse the mint, and sugar in cold water for 2-4 hours. The longer the better.
- Strain into a reusable cup filled with Party Ice.
- Garnish with lime wheels before serving!

STRAWBERRY ACAI REFRESHER
Homemade: approx. £1 per drink
Store bought: £4.48 per drink
A hydrating drink of sweet strawberry flavours accented by acai notes, now that sounds appetising. However, for £4.23 per drink at Starbucks, it certainly can be done for cheaper. If customers spent £12.50 or less on the ingredients below, they’d be able to make 11 or more drinks.
Ingredients:
- 1 handful of Polar Cube ice (10p per portion)
- 2 handfuls of chopped strawberries (25p per portion)
- 1 teaspoon of acai powder (39p per portion)
- 1 and ½ cups of cold water
- 1 cup of grapefruit juice (25p per portion)
- 1 teaspoon of sugar (5p per portion)
Method:
- Boil a green tea bag for two minutes and leave to cool.
- Blend together one handful of strawberries with half a cup of water. Once smooth strain into a jug.
- In a bowl whisk the Acai powder with ½ cup of water until the powder is dissolved, then add to the strawberry water.
- Add in the grapefruit juice, with two teaspoons of green tea and one teaspoon of sugar.
- Fill a reusable cup with Polar Cube ice, and one more handful of strawberries, then pour in the drink and serve!
