2024 is set to be a huge year for us here at The Ice Co as we embark on one of our biggest projects to date – the road to net zero. For nearly a decade we’ve been making huge changes across the business to reduce our carbon footprint and do our bit for the planet, but this year we’ve set our goals and the work truly begins to hit net zero by 2050.
In a world of greenwashing, it was important for us in our latest strategy to continue to be as transparent as possible, sharing with you the challenges we face throughout this process alongside any progress that’s made. This time it’s all about 2050, with everything we set out to do over the next 3 years pushing us closer to net zero whilst keeping our core values at the heart of it all.
Our Sustainability Strategy 2026 is not just a plan for the next 3 years, it’s our vision for the future of The Ice Co:
THE ICE CO ARE LEADERS IN SUSTAINABILITY IN THE FROZEN INDUSTRY
We are the number one choice for sustainability by our customers, with an engaged, happy and empowered workforce. We source only from others with aligned values and constantly work to seek further improvements which in turn reduce carbon emissions and our impact on the environment, all striving towards our goal of net zero by 2050.
We used our core values to form our strategy, creating a three pillar structure dedicated to our key focus areas: People, Process & Planet, and for each of these we also have a vision:
People:
We grow, develop and recognise Ice Champions! Our family friendly ethos creates an engaged, happy and skilled workforce. We ensure equality and parity of pay. We promote a positive and proactive approach to employee health and wellbeing.
Process:
We deliver sustainable solutions from ice forming to ice consumption, driving waste from our processes and sourcing as sustainably as possible. Maintaining our ISO14001 certification into the future.
Planet:
‘IceKind’ is our way to support our local community, national charities and world causes that are close to the hearts of our workforce and have a strong focus on the environment.
Within each pillar, we’ve set goals for the next 3 years including everything from safe and friendly working environments to reducing our overall water consumption, all of which are contributing towards a healthier workplace and a healthier planet.
