If you’re looking for a different way to keep your toddler entertained this summer, a Teddy Bear picnic might be the perfect solution! It’s a fun opportunity for your little one to socialise, spend time outdoors and use their imagination.
We’ve created an essential guide to help you organise the best Teddy Bear picnic, to make your life as a busy parent that little bit easier!
Invitations
You can’t host any party without official invitations for your child’s teddy bears. Grab some colourful cards, pens and envelopes and sit down with your toddler to write invitations to all their favourite toys. This also makes a lovely at-home, crafty activity for you to enjoy together in the lead up to the picnic!
Food and drink
Teddy bears (and toddlers!) love small but tasty snacks, so a range of bite-sized party food is ideal for the occasion! Read on for a few ideas of what to bring along to your picnic.
Jam and marmalade sandwiches
A teddy bear’s favourite food! Simple sandwiches cut into small pieces and filled with delicious jam and marmalade are a fantastic snack for both your toddler and their bears – if it’s good enough for Paddington, it’s good enough for us!
Fruit juice
Fill a flask or bottle with your toddler’s favourite fruit juice – a sweet, refreshing and healthy option for summer. Make sure to add some super-sized and slow melting Super Cubes to keep their drink cool all afternoon long. You could even transfer your juice from a flask into a traditional teapot and help your child serve all their (furry) friends!
Summer fruits
A selection of summer fruits is the perfect light snack for toddlers to enjoy. Remember to keep your fruit fresh in a cool bag or with a few cubes of Party Ice when packing for your picnic!
Party cakes
It wouldn’t be a party without a little sweet treat. You can buy enough small fairy cakes to go around from any major supermarket – or bake them yourself at home with your little one!
Frozen yoghurt lollies
Make sure your child gets their calcium intake with a fun summer twist on their usual yoghurt. Freeze your toddler’s favourite flavours in molds overnight. Make sure you keep your homemade lollies nice and fresh with a cool bag and some Party Ice!
Games and activities
The fun doesn’t have to stop after everyone’s had their fill… a Teddy Bear’s picnic is the perfect chance for your child to play in nature and have some fun in the sun!
Sing along
Staying on theme, try singing “If you go down to the woods today…” with your toddler and have all their teddy guests join in!
Tag
For something a bit more active, a classic game of tag can help your toddler blow off some steam and make the most of their time outdoors.
Hide and seek
A childhood classic will go down well with guests of all ages! You’ll be able to carry a very tired little one home after keeping them entertained all afternoon with a good game of hide and seek – don’t forget to have their fluffy guests hide too!
