This summer we unveiled a greener alternative to conventional plastic packaging. An industry first, our new Party Ice packing was trialled this summer in 2kg compostable bags and sold at a selection of Co-op’s pop-up festival stores over the course of this summer.
Our new packaging complies with the British Standard for compostability BS EN 13432 which certifies them as 100% compostable – an innovation in the frozen food realm. We’re confident that in the current climate, this new offering will resonate with shoppers seeking alternative product and packaging options.
The ability for packaging to be fully compostable represents a significant benefit for the industry. Not only does it align with the rising tide of consumer demand for sustainable products, but it also addresses the pressing need for waste reduction within the frozen food sector.
Polly Metcalfe, Managing Director at The Ice Co, said, “We wanted to launch our new Party Ice packaging in a setting that would allow us to get the product into the hands of our target shoppers, we feel this launch does just that. Understanding the needs and concerns of our consumers is our priority, so it’s great to see this latest eco-friendly packaging offering being trialled at so many of the country’s biggest festivals.”
We even headed to Kendal Calling this summer to see our brand-new bags in person, take a look below:
The trial of this limited-edition packaging was exclusive to The Ice Co’s 2kg Party Ice bags sold at selected Co-op Festival stores across the UK.
