5 Drinks Recipes to Enjoy when the World Cup Kicks Off

5 Drinks Recipes to Enjoy when the World Cup Kicks Off
Pink sqiggle Ice Cubes Ice Cubes

The World Cup is almost here — and just like any great tournament, it deserves great drinks to match. Whether you’re upgrading from the standard pint or looking for something a little more creative to get the party started, we’ve got five brilliant recipes that are guaranteed to score with your guests every single time!

From sharing pitchers packed with citrus and lager to fun beer cocktails that’ll have everyone talking, these are the drinks that belong at your World Cup party. And the best bit? We’ve even created two special recipes named after a couple of England’s finest — so you can raise a glass to the lads while they do their thing on the pitch. Let’s get into it!

1. The Sharing Serve: Lemon Shandy Sangria

Who says sangria has to be made with wine? This brilliant beer-based twist on the classic is the ultimate sharing serve for a World Cup party — light, zingy, and refreshing, with lager, elderflower liqueur and lemonade coming together in a gorgeous pitcher that looks as impressive as it tastes. It’s quick to put together and serves five, which means less time behind the bar and more time watching the action. Ditch the basic pints and give this a go — your guests will thank you for it!

Ingredients — Serves 5

  • 1 bag Polar Cube ice
  • 200ml lemonade
  • 200ml ginger ale
  • 400ml lager
  • 100ml elderflower liqueur
  • 100ml lemon juice
  • Garnish: sliced citrus fruit

Method

  1. Fill your pitcher generously with Polar Cube ice. Add the lemonade, ginger ale, lager, lemon juice and elderflower liqueur and stir everything together.
  2. Chop citrus fruit into wheels and stir into the pitcher.
  3. Fill individual glasses with Polar Cube ice, pour in your sangria and garnish with a lime wheel. Enjoy!

Top tip: This one’s made for sharing, so build it in the biggest pitcher you can find and let guests help themselves throughout the match — that’s one less thing for you to worry about between kick-off and full time!

2. The Craft Upgrade: Campari IPA

If you or your guests are craft beer lovers, this one is going to be your new favourite. The Campari IPA takes a quality IPA — we love Beavertown Neck Oil for this — adds a hit of Campari for that gorgeous bittersweet depth, and tops it with a splash of sparkling orange juice for a citrusy finish. It’s bold, it’s vibrant, and it goes down dangerously well during those tense moments in the second half. Why settle for a standard can when you can have this?!

Ingredients — Serves 1

  • 2–3 Super Cubes
  • 25ml Campari
  • 150ml Beavertown Neck Oil IPA
  • Top up: sparkling orange juice
  • Garnish: orange peel

Method

  1. Add 2–3 Super Cubes to a rocks glass.
  2. Pour in 25ml Campari and top up with 150ml IPA.
  3. Add a splash of sparkling orange juice, rub a piece of orange peel around the rim of the glass and serve. Enjoy your Campari IPA!

Top tip: Super Cubes are perfect here — they melt slower than smaller ice, so your drink stays deliciously cold and doesn’t get watered down while you’re distracted by the match. We’re always thinking ahead!

3. The Showstopper: Coronarita

Part margarita, part beer, entirely brilliant — the Coronarita is an absolute showstopper and guaranteed to get people talking. An upturned mini Corona drip-dripping its way into a classic tequila margarita is one of those drinks that looks seriously impressive and tastes even better. It’s a proper party drink for a proper party occasion, and with the World Cup on the telly and your mates around you, the timing couldn’t be more perfect. We insist you try this one!

Ingredients — Serves 1

  • 1 handful Party Ice
  • 1 mini Corona (or 330ml Corona)
  • 40ml tequila
  • 20ml triple sec
  • 20ml lime juice
  • Garnish: salt, lime wedge, lime wheel

Method

  1. Fill your cocktail shaker with Party Ice and add the tequila, triple sec and lime juice. Shake well to combine.
  2. Rim the edge of a margarita glass with a lime wedge and dip into salt to coat the rim.
  3. Strain the cocktail into the glass, then carefully turn a mini Corona upside down into the drink and let it slowly pour in. Garnish with a lime wheel and enjoy your Coronarita!

Top tip: Making these for a group? Batch up the tequila, triple sec and lime in advance and keep it chilled — then when match time comes all you need to do is shake, pour and flip the Corona in. Half-time cocktail round sorted!

4. The England XI Series No. 9: The Striker — Inspired by Harry Kane

Bold, powerful and always on target — just like the man himself

Harry Kane doesn’t do anything by halves, and neither does this drink. The Striker is a bold, punchy beer cocktail that goes straight for the goal — golden lager meets fiery ginger beer, a shot of bourbon for warmth and depth, a squeeze of fresh lemon and a dash of honey syrup to round it all out. It’s assertive, it’s full of character, and it delivers every single time. Just like a Kane penalty — you always know it’s going in. Named in honour of England’s all-time leading scorer, this one is the first drink you should be mixing when the tournament kicks off!

Ingredients — Serves 1

  • 1 generous handful Party Ice
  • 25ml bourbon
  • 15ml honey syrup (1:1 honey & water)
  • 20ml fresh lemon juice
  • 150ml lager
  • Top up: ginger beer
  • Garnish: lemon wheel, fresh thyme sprig

Method

  1. Fill a tall glass generously with Party Ice.
  2. Add the bourbon, honey syrup and lemon juice and stir well to combine.
  3. Pour in the lager, then top up with ginger beer for that extra kick.
  4. Garnish with a lemon wheel and a sprig of fresh thyme for a touch of class. Raise a glass to the skipper and enjoy — you’ve earned it!

The Striker’s finishing touch: Feeling brave? Add a tiny pinch of chilli flakes to the honey syrup when you make it. It adds a subtle heat at the back of the throat — just like facing a Kane shot from 25 yards. Unstoppable.

5. The England XI Series No. 1: The Safe Hands — Inspired by Jordan Pickford

Every great team needs a goalkeeper, and every great drinks menu needs a drink you can absolutely rely on. The Safe Hands is clean, crisp and completely dependable — just like Jordan Pickford between the sticks on a big match night. It’s a beautifully balanced beer shandy cocktail: light lager, cloudy lemonade, a measure of elderflower gin liqueur and plenty of fresh cucumber and mint to keep things cool and refreshing. It’s the drink that keeps your guests going from kick-off right through to the final whistle, without ever putting a foot wrong. Dedicated to England’s number one — the man who never drops anything, including the ball!

Ingredients — Serves 1

  • 1 handful Polar Cube ice
  • 25ml elderflower gin liqueur
  • 20ml fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tsp sugar syrup
  • 150ml light lager
  • Top up: cloudy lemonade
  • Garnish: cucumber slices, fresh mint, lemon round

Method

  1. Fill a tall glass generously with Polar Cube ice.
  2. Add the elderflower gin liqueur, fresh lemon juice and sugar syrup, stirring briefly.
  3. Pour in the lager slowly, then top up with cloudy lemonade.
  4. Add a few slices of cucumber and a sprig of fresh mint, then finish with a round of lemon on the rim. Sit back, relax and watch Pickford do his thing!

The keeper’s secret: This one is also brilliant as a sharing pitcher for a group — just multiply everything up, build it in a large jug packed with Polar Cube ice and leave it in the middle of the table. Safe, reliable and always available when needed. Exactly like the man it’s named after!

Which one are you mixing first?

Whether you’re pouring a pitcher of Lemon Shandy Sangria as guests arrive, shaking up Coronaritas at half-time or raising a Striker to Harry Kane every time England attack — there’s a drink here for every moment of the tournament!

We’d love to see your World Cup party drinks in action — share your photos with us on Facebook and Instagram and let us know which recipe was the biggest hit. Here’s to great games, great company and even greater drinks. Come on England!
