Planning Your Cocktail Gender Reveal Party

Gender reveal party
Pink sqiggle Ice Cubes Ice Cubes

The popularity of gender reveal parties has surged in recent years, with parents all over the UK looking for new and innovative ways to celebrate the blissful surprise of finding out their babies’ sex with family and friends. We’re seeing more and more gender reveal parties surface on social media, ranging from the original balloon pop to cutting blue or pink cakes. However, if you are a parent opting for a more unique and unseen “reveal”, then you have arrived at the right place. Why not create a fun cocktail or mocktail experience for your guests? By creating a classic cocktail everyone knows and loves, a Tom Collins! Please note, that you will need to select someone to discover the sex of your baby ahead of the party to ensure you implement the correct colour!

Ingredients (per cocktail):

x 1 handful of Polar Cube ice

x 50ml Gin or Non-Alcoholic Gin

x 30ml Fresh Lemon Juice

x 10ml Sugar Syrup

Top with: soda

x 1 Small non-transparent bottles of red or blue food colouring for each guest (decorative boy or girl labels are optional)

Time to plan:

  1. To prepare you’ll have to give your trusted friend or family member the results from your gender scan and then issue them with the small non-transparent bottles to fill with red food colouring (if you are having a girl) or blue food colouring (if you are having a boy). The smaller the bottles the better, we recommend Ampulla aluminium bottles that you can buy for a reasonable price. Note, a nice added touch is applying a personalised boy or girl label to each bottle for your guests which can be found on These should be prepared ahead of your gender reveal and avoid snooping!

  1. On the day, organise your space by placing a Collins glass, a printed out of the method for creating a Tom Collins, half a lemon and a small bottle of food colouring at each placement. For your guests to share during their cocktail-making session, a bucket of Polar Cube ice with a scoop, a bottle of gin and non-alcoholic gin and a large bottle of soda water. For garnishing, plate up some maraschino cherries and lemon slices in the centre.

  1. Greet your guests upon arrival and thank them for coming to share such a magical moment with you. Begin by talking them through how to create the cocktail but do not fret they also have the method printed out if this is something neither parent feels comfortable with. The cocktail-making is a great icebreaker (literally) for getting all your close friends and family together.

  1. First, they must add 50ml gin, 10ml sugar syrup, 30ml lemon juice and stir before adding Polar Cube ice and topping with soda. We’ve purposely selected a simple-to-make cocktail, so the cocktail-making session does not steer the attention away from the main event! You! There is something more intimate about all your close friends and family discovering the sex of your baby at the same time and this way they can.
