As the summer draws to a close in a long-standing tradition at The Ice Co, we brought our full team together for an afternoon of fun, food and fundraising last week at our Annual Charity Day! With 23 charities nominated by our wonderful team to receive a portion of the funds raised, the team turned out in full force to raise as much money as possible for the causes closest to their hearts. This year the main event was our Inflatable Grand National and the stakes were high, with 6 races to kick off the day staff were given a racecard to back their winners for each race, for the chance to win a prize for whoever guessed the most correctly!
The challenge was simple: the fastest person to cross the finish line on their inflatable horse would advance to the next round! We had some big names on the roster from David Hasslehoof to Liam Neighson, but 6 horses made it to the semi-finals: Trojan Horse, Phil Ya Boots, Al Capony, Turn It Off & On, Icey McIceFace and I Hate Budgets. Only one could be crowned the winner, with Phil Ya Boots becoming the Inflatable Grand National Champion & Eleanor Houghton taking home a bottle of fizz for correctly predicting the most winners on the day!
The fun continued throughout the afternoon as the team enjoyed delicious burgers and fries from The Otley Burger Company and battled it out to get the highest score in our football darts for the chance to win a prize, with Rio Harrat coming in at No.1 with a high score of 92!
The activities didn’t stop there as we had to finish of the afternoon with the traditional Ice Bag Throwing! As always, whoever threw the 2kg bag the furthest would be our winner, whilst many gave it their best shot, Kane Hill was our winner with a whopping distance of 23 meters!
After all the excitement, we enjoyed sweet treats from Bakes by Sash, with everyone coming back for second helpings ahead of our long-anticipated raffle! We had some amazing prizes up for grabs this year, including hotel stays, TV’s, vouchers, air fryers and even annual leave! Whilst we have a lot of fun doing it, the reason for our annual Charity Day is to raise as much money as we can for those less fortunate and this year our incredible team raised £2,163. This, alongside the company donation, we are thrilled to announce that a huge £18,000 was raised to be split between 23 amazing charities nominated by our staff. Here’s who we’ll be supporting this year:
Barnsley Hospice, The Prince of Wales Hospice, SOUP4EM, Dayabhavan Orphanage, Good Life Dog Rescue, Huntingtons Disease Association, Wakefield Hospice, Wayne’s Stroke Recovery, Lily Thompson’s Just Giving Page, Castleford Hedgehog Rescue, St Gemma’s Hospice, Andy’s Man Club, Kidney Research UK, Tiny Hands Baby Bank, Evie’s Go Fund Me, SVP St Wilfred’s York, My Hospitals Charity, South Kirkby Junior Miners Welfare, St Mary’s Church, Mayflower Animal Sanctury, Alzheimers Research UK, Ambitious About Autism and Cure for Charlie D.
Of course raising this money would not be possible without all our amazing suppliers who donated to our raffle, we’d like to say a massive thank you from all of us to Total FM, McCulla, Softcat, AFP Digital, Corroless Eastern, Trinity McQueen, Saltmoore Hotel, Smurfitwestrock, Cayman, Castleford Tigers, RCN, Soverign Health, Jungheinrich, Bischoff & Klein, Coulstock & Place, Arco, Tiny Hands Baby Bank, Booker, Make UK, PR Services, ESC Global, Ramsbury Gin, Tough Mudder, Ascensor, Storelogs and Airedale Precision Engineering – You’re all fantastic & thank you for your continued support!
